The Hexenschopf is the second oldest building in the town of Löffingen (14th century) and is a listed building because of its structure. The building has been used from the beginning as a restaurant and small farm.
The imposing building of the present Hexenschopf itself has an impressive past.
Already in 1808 a "Beck und Bierwirt" zum Rothans lived here.
In 1853 "Zum Rothans" became the inn "Zum Museum".
It was Franz-Josef Gebert who, after a long stay in America, started the Hauses
In 1849 he also acquired the bar rights. In 1856 the estate came into his hands. Later under Josefa Geisinger the Gebert inn became the domicile of the witches.
Friedrich Knödler (* 1920 in Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld; † 1988 in Donaueschingen) was a German artist. Knödler was born in 1920 in Bad Friedrichshall-Jagstfeld near Heilbronn and first trained as a painter. Later he took drawing lessons with Prof. Walter Eberbach from Heilbronn. From 1938 until 1942 he studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart under Prof. Hans Spiegel and Prof. Anton Kolig. From 1945 he worked as a freelance artist in Jagstfeld. 1957 he moved to Güglingen, 1964 to Löffingen. He died 1988 in Donaueschingen.
In 2009 the house was bought by the Habich family, completely renovated and after a long break made accessible to the public again.
